The Green sea turtle, or honu, is a big favorite among all who visit the waters of Sharks Cove. They can be found easily floating on the surface eating algea that grows on the rocks where the ocean laps the rocky cove. Its name is derived from the consumption of algae which turns its body fat green.
It is illegal to collect, harm, or kill these beautiful creatures. They are still on the endangerered list and we hope to see their numbers continue to rise.
