It’s that time again! Our annual MAKAI WATCH Training & Certification is coming up on Saturday, June 26th from 1pm-4pm at the Sunset Beach Recreation Center.
Join Mālama Pūpūkea-Waimea and DLNR-DOCARE to learn about current rules and regulations pertaining to fishing and how to accurately identify, document, and report violations. Participants will be trained and certified in the Observation and Incident Reporting (OIR) series, and a newly developed Awareness Raising and Outreach (ARO) component known as ‘Ike Kai. ‘Ike Kai addresses common regulated species, ocean management tools, both traditional and modern, and promotes cultural awareness when engaging resource users.
By working together, we can help ensure abundant resources for future generations. Hope to see you there!
