E HUKI I NĀ KŪKANAWAO!
Pull the Weeds!
Saturday, Jan 16th!
Aloha! It’s been a little over a year since we started our Coastal Restoration Project at Pūpūkea Beach Park (Sharks Cove) and the over 5000 Native Hawaiian plants we planted are doing great! All the recent rain has been a blessing but its been beneficial for the invasive weeds too, so, we need your help to eradicate them! Come help us take care of our ‘āina…by doing so, you help ensure healthy ocean resources for future generations.
* We’ll also be repairing our ‘ohe (bamboo) fence and painting new signs. Everyone is welcome to help. Volunteers who would like to be team leaders will be pre-trained. Contact us if you’d like to volunteer to be a team leader.
Team leaders are needed for the following:
-help a group of 3-4 volunteers accurately differentiate between native plants and weeds
-help ensure proper fence repair and lashing (no nails)
-help ensure appropriate sign messages and appearance, and manage paint and supplies.
